CHILDREN'S BOOK IllUSTRATION
As an entry into the Gavin Bishop Award 2016 I created a number of illustrated children’s book spreads, end pages and a dust cover based on the provided competition manuscript. The Gavin Bishop award aims to encourage the publication of new and exciting high quality picture books from previously unpublished New Zealand illustrators. The story provided was called “Granny Mcflitter the Champion Knitter” written by Heather Haylock.
Submissions for the award required two double page spreads of interpretive illustrations. Through my illustrations I have sought to capture Granny McFlitter’s endearing personality, the ornate knitted house she lives in and the supporting characters that feature in the story.
